正在对黄陂区盘龙城出土文物进行修复的湖北省文物考古所副研究员胡家喜，透露了一个鲜为人知的事实：国家一级文物、著名的盘龙城大铜鼎，修复前曾是一堆碎片。1989年10月，盘龙城考古工作站在商代墓葬中，发现了一件前所未见的特大青铜圆鼎，它对研究我国商代前期青铜铸造工艺的发展水平，具有重大意义。遗憾的是，出土时已成为一堆碎片。大致拼凑还发现，铜鼎缺少一耳，三足残缺。
