铜鼎分为方鼎与圆鼎，但是在历史的舞台上宝鼎是最受人们喜爱的。但是不管是怎样的鼎，其都有自己的含义。现在中国人仍然有一种鼎崇拜的意识，因此存留下来的由鼎组成的成语或者诗句比较多。如我们经常说的鼎鼎大名、革旧鼎新、人声鼎沸、一代鼎臣、问鼎轻重、问鼎中原等。除了这些之外还有许多的诗句：东去江干是胜游，鼎湖兴望不堪愁；金门有遗世，鼎实恣和邦等。这些词语与诗句也更加体现了铸造的鼎对我们的重要性，即对我们以至于整个时代的影响力。
